The FASCAR H2H Series took the week off, and the FASCAR Drivers hit the track at Talladega Superspeedway for the second Exhibition race on Sunday. Angie Ebach and her # 11 Coca-Cola Dodge crossed the line first after what started as a tame event and ended with a wild 3 G-W-C’s after a caution for debris with 6 laps to go.
Restart # 1: As soon as the green was back out the drivers left it all out on the track. The # 96 of Jonathan Carlisle was riding in 5th place at the restart, but was kicked out of line when he got loose in Turn 2. As he tried to fade back into line, assured by his spotter he was clear, clipped the front bumper of the # 55 machine of Linda Schmaltz sending both driver skidding across the backstretch and leaving the 96 severely damaged after hard contact with the retaining wall. The 55 drove away with cosmetic damage only.
Restart # 2: Again, the green dropped on the field, and everyone tried to remain collected as they went through Turn’s 1 & 2. Beating and banging bumpers picked up as the drivers made it down the backstretch and headed off into Turn 3. The # 39 of Mychal Cardwell began bump drafting just a little too much going into Turn 4 when he pushed once to many on the back bumper of the # 95 of Austin Ebach sending him down across the track collecting the 55 and the # 10 of Vincent Cardwell. Effectively ending the day of the 55 and 39, though the 10 and 95 managed to finish the race they did so a couple laps down.
Restart # 3: The final restart decided the winner with breath holding drama as the final five drivers on the lead lap and the laps down damaged 95 & 39 Chevys. When the green fell, the drivers fell into a short-lived single file line, lead by the # 18 of Megan Ebach. Everyone stayed single file until the center of Turns 3 & 4 when the # 11 jumped to the outside getting a push from the # 31 of Joseph Cardwell & # 12 of Katie Cardwell. Heading down the front straightaway it looked as if the drafting power of the # 18 & # 23 of Wendal Ebach would be too much for the three cars, as they stayed locked bumper-to-bumper going into the trioval. Coming out of the trioval, the 12 got loose losing contact with the bumper of the 31, which was exactly what the 11 needed as coming to the stripe the 11 & 31 managed to pass by the 18 & 23, with the 12 crossing the line 5th.
