The performance of KISS at the North Dakota State Fair brought 15,082 people to the new grandstand Saturday night, the second day of the fair.
That attendance was up 3,232 from the number of those attending the Taylor Swift concert on the second night of last year's fair, State Fair officials said.
KISS was the first rock act to perform in the new grandstand.
One dollar of every ticket purchased for the KISS concert will be going to the CSRA Wounded Warrior Project which directly benefits members of the armed forces.
Last week Laurie Ott, executive director of the project in Augusta, Ga., said the fact that KISS and the State Fair "recognize the importance of this mission speaks volumes about their interest in our nation's troops and their families and their support for them."
KISS took the stage about 9:30 p.m. Saturday and gave an approximately two-hour performance. Alana Grace was the opening performer for KISS. At the end of the night, there was a dazzling fireworks display.
On Saturday, the second day of the 2010 fair, the total number of people attending the event was 53,778, State Fair officials said. The State Fair parade was held that day.
Shannon Pearson, marketing director for the State Fair, said the crowd at the fair Saturday was huge and the weather was "fantastic."
On Friday night, the country music duo, Brooks & Dunn, performed to a grandstand crowd of 14,863. Friday was the opening day of the fair.
The first two days' attendance at this year's fair numbered 84,768. Last year the fair had a slightly higher total attendance of 88,317 for the first two days. One of the factors attributing to the lower number of attendees for the first two days this year was the wet weather on Friday.
