Last week we found out that Megan has Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease. On Monday June 20th we will head to Grand Forks to see a speciallist to determine what is going to happen. She may have to surgery or they will have to put cast on her leg to get it straighten it out. She will start Physiotherapy on June 15th.
Megan is not to run, jump and other things but, this hasn't slowed her down yet. Tho, 1 wrong move and it could break her leg. Anywayz I thought I would drop you all and e-mail to let you know what is going on.
Legg–Calvé–Perthes syndrome is a degenerative disease of the hipjoint, where growth/loss of bone mass leads to some degree of collapse of the hip joint and to deformity of the ball of the femur and the surface of the hip socket. The disease is characterized by idiopathic avascular osteonecrosis of the capital femoral epiphysis of the femoral head leading to an interruption of the blood supply of the head of the femur close to the hip joint. The disease is typically found in young children, and it can lead to osteoarthritis in adults. The effects of the disease can sometimes continue into adulthood. It is also known more simply as Perthes disease,[1] ischemic necrosis of the hip, coxa plana, osteochondritis and avascular necrosis of the femoral head, Legg–Perthes Disease or Legg–Calve-Perthes Disease (LCPD).
Sorry to hear about this. We wish You Megan and the whole family the best. Your a fighter just like Kyle Busch and you will come out of this just fine.
With everything going on here in Minot -- I totally forgot to give you all the update about Megan. Megan does have this Disease and for now we are to do what we are doing with the PT & ROM and slow her down. Which she got her Walker today to hopefully slow her down. We will meet with the Dr. again in 6 weeks to see where she is at. At that time he will recheck everything and go from there but, he said it's going to be a long 12 to 18 months.
We meet with the Dr. on Tuesday for a recheck in Devils Lake. It's been up & down the last few weeks and with her fall on Saturday on that hip she has been in more pain once again.
I hope to maybe even get some fishing done at Devils Lake after the Dr. Apt. It would our first time fishing there.
Update: We saw the Dr. yesterday and Megan's leg is not getting any better and it's not getting any worse. So, next Thursday Megan will have surgery to release the presurre and the Dr. will be putting a cast on both legs with a bar to help with the whole recover. She will be in the cast's for 6 weeks and will have a wheelchair. The cast's will be from right above her knees down.
As for her cleaning her room, that wouldn't change she doesn't do it now. (LoL)
I told megan last night she better enjoy this next week because it's going to be a long 6 weeks for her. She goes to Grandma's in Rugby from Saturday to Tuesday so, that will take her mind off of things.
I am looking forward to having Megan come and it sounds as if she has everything planned out LOL. So heres wishing Megan the best of luck with surgery and recovery .
Megan's surgery went great yestarday. She has 2 cast's on her legs which are pink. I will post a few photos later. She had a very rough first night but, she is in a very good mood today. When I post the photo's you will notice that She has her team name on it (LoL) Little Diva Inc.
She will be in the cast until Sept 23rd -- Getting around with the wheelchair or us moving her.
We got some great news yesterday and that is that Megan will be getting her cast off on Friday September 16th now. Megan was very happy to hear that news yesterday.
